hard one

I think Trey Anastasio to me would be the one to jamm with them as have you heard Phish play Floyd covers and they don't even have all the background singers to pull it off and I think they do it very well. Also Trey is BIG TIME influenced from Mr. Gilmour

roger's the man

What if Dave left? That would be awful, because Roger's time in the floyd was over after Final Cut. The solo albums were progress. So I'm glad Roger left. He's the thinking head, and the man. Just ask Nick... Roger is not replaceable... anyone couldn't write the Dark Side, Animals, the Wall, the Final Cut and so on.... I'm not saying that Dave is replaceable, but anyone can do guitar solos, not everyone can do concept albums.

If Dave left, it would have been a much different type of change from TFC to AMLOR. Further floyd albums would just sound like Roger's solo stuff. Unless they got a new guitar player and reinvented themself, i.e. from Syd to Dave.

If Dave left, the band wouldn't have made it. Dave is such an amazing guitar player... Who could top his skills? So if Rog had stayed, the band would have burned out big time.

oh, cut the crap.. Have you listened to Roger's In The Flesh? Doyle reaches Dave's guitar skills big time.. And by the way.. Gilmour's High Hopes is a copy og Roger's Three Wishes... Floyd after 87 sounds like a regular rock band with sweet songs. The Floyd sound can only be made by Syd and Roger..

Rubbish! The Floyd sound is different things to different people. "IMO" works wonders in these circumstances.

IMO, the Floyd sound can only be heard when Roger (Waters), David, Richard and Nick are all producing it at the same time.

Syd's Floyd was far too short-lived in relation to their overall history to make any of the running, again, IMO.

BoaB's right!

And I think Rog is terrific, and has produced great music. But w/o Dave... Nick and Rick would get fed up with him and quit. He doesn't seem to have a, well, "nice" personality...

Re: What if Dave. not Rog, left

To hear what PF would've sounded like if Dave left, just listen to Pros and Cons, Radio KAOS and Amused To Death.
Pink Floyd without Roger was a collaboration of many writers. Pink Floyd without Dave would be a showcase for "guest" guitarists.
