Question Oldfield fans

Anyone here a fan of Mike Oldfield? He's a superb guitarist and the beauty of his music is that it always sounds different on each album. So far I have Crises, Voyager, Songs of Distant Earth and two best ofs.

Tubular bells has got to be one of the best debut albums I have heard. I've only heard bits and snatches but it does kinda remind me of The Floyd at times.

Awaiting reply,

RB

Absolutely RB. I have Tublar Bells and Ommadawn. I'm told that he plays all of the instruments himself that are heard on the album. The man's a genuis. His music does have this....eerie, yet beautiful quality to it. I like it.

He does play all the instruments, yes. He uses a technique of layering the sounds on top of each other when he's editing it. Pretty neat.

Dr Cheese: considering you like to listen to Westlife and Kylie all day, it comes as no surprise you don't like his music. Its very good music and I could listen to that all day.

Quality not quantity,

RB

What, and not The Exorcist instead?

TB, Crises and Five Miles Out are some of my faves

MO? Thumbs up.

Have you forgotten, Dr Cheese? In the pink floyd radio hour... thread you said that UK radio was the best because you like to listen to Kylie and Westlife all day or something to that effect in any case.

I haven't actually seen The Exorcist, Byron, but I'm considering it. So that's probably why I don't think of it when I hear Tubular Bells.

I don't think he did. It grew a mould that produces a lethal chemical that releases your sarcastic streak. So thats why he's a bit funny today.

Go and see a doctor , Dr Cheese. Maybe he'll give you some new medicine. Prozac, maybe.

Doctor, doctor... Cheese!

You'll have to self-prescribe then but be careful with that Prozac. It don't half have nasty side-effects if you take too much.

(starts to twitch slightly as his evil alter ego starts to reassert himself...)
