CWTAE but I'll say Echoes because someone heard it playing and said it was the creepiest thing they'd heard.

The whale thing used to scare the bejeesus out of me. Well, actually it made me more lonesome than scared. Or scared at being alone?
Either way, that whale part instills some form of emotion in me...

I thought it was meant to be seagulls. Well, thats how I interpret it, anyway.

Re: Scariest Song (Happy Halloween!)

Echoes is more mystical IMO because I've done the Echoes: 2001 synch so I'm not scared when I hear it anymore. CWTAE is scary (especially when the room is completely black and you have only candles for light...) but I'm not sure which is the scariest.

What now, Wildman? What reaction does it incite when, if, you listen to it today?

Actually, Seeing them perform it on the Pompeii video cured me...Realizing that the only 'Axe' Roger had was his Bass!!!

Re: Scariest Song (Happy Halloween!)

Id have to say the seagulls bit of Echoes is the scariest, well eeriest PF song or maybe the start of Signs of Life, the sound of the rowing boat combined with those synths, sends a shiver up and down my spine every time.

And as for non-PF songs, there's one bit in The Rime Of the Ancient Mariner by Iron Maiden, this creaking ship with some eerie guitar work, and the creepiest voice ever.

Re: Scariest Song (Happy Halloween!)

Echoes is really creepy when watching it as the 2001: A Space Odyssey sync. After all the psychedelic insanity, and the seagulls come in, it's just floating through space with weird liquids floating around. Watch it on a big Tv in the dark and you get rather uncomfortable.

Re: Scariest Song (Happy Halloween!)

Wouldn't it technically be albatrosses, not seagulls?

I don't think albatrosses make that kind of noise, but I could be wrong. I've always thought that section of the song was designated as the "seagull" section. If you have a problem with it, blame conformity.
