Pink Floyd on the Sopranos.

Hey. Anyone watch the Sopranos last Sunday? Pink Floyd was "sampled" twice. Once while Tony is laying on his couch testing out the new system (the end of Eclipse), and once while he is in the shower... "we don't need no ... dun dun dun dun (he doesn't know the wordS)... we don't need no thought dun dun (again)". It was pretty cool to see one of my favorite bands referenced in one of my favorite shows.

Anyone else pick up on any other references or have a reason why these particular songs were in this episode? I personally thought they were building up to Mother, as much of the episode was about Ralph and his mother/abuse. Sorry if this was posted before, I just thought it was cool to see Pink Floyd in one of America's most acclaimed shows and to let you guys know about it in case you can catch a rerun to see it/ try to find a hidden meaning (sopranos is good at doing this with TV shows and movies to convey a meaning).

Later,
Olto

Wow cool, i've never watched the Soprano's though, whats it all about? Well, I thought it was cool when they played YES on that movie Almost Famous, actually they played TWO differant YeS songs, pretty cool.

Re: Pink Floyd on the Sopranos.

Letterman had a top 10 list not long ago which was 'Signs that your favourite baseball player is on dope, and one on the list was 'he keeps going up to the keyboard player and asking him to play lots of pink floyd'

Re: Pink Floyd on the Sopranos.

The Sopranos is about a family whose father is a mob-leader. It would take a day to explain all the plot twists and conflicts, but it is great. Tony Soprano is married to Carmella and have two kids, Meadow and Tony Jr. The show is usually focussed around them, but it sometimes switches to another major character (chris, his girlfriend, etc.) It is really great. It mixes violence, humor, action, and plenty of other things and it is definitely one of the best series of all time (in my opinion)... This season has been mostly weak, but go out and rent the first one or two (they have it on DVD) and see if you like it. Later man.

Re: Pink Floyd on the Sopranos.

Buffalo 66 was a movie written, directed and starring Mr. Vincent Gallo... the soundtrack features a lot of Yes and King Crimson songs as well as Gallo's own compositions. Worth tracking down. Very good film (and Gallo's music is pretty damn cool as well.) Try www.warprecords.com for some info on his stuff.

I'm a major Soprano's fan.

Man, "T" did a real number on little Ralphie Cifaretto Sunday!

Re: Tony Digs Floyd

Get the popcorn & beer ready Soprano fans!

Season 6 starts Sunday! I've been watching the trailers and it looks like we're in store for another great mafia-fest!

Will Tony get indicted? Will Johnny Sac get his revenge on "Little Carmine" Lupertazzi? Will Christopher hook up with a Bada Bing chick, now that Adrianna is worm food? Will Silvio's bad hairpiece finally fall off into his pasta e fagioli?

Tune in for the answers to these questions and others!

Re: Pink Floyd on the Sopranos.

Impressive work avoiding the DDT Stratman.

Sadly I haven't followed The Sopranos through the first five sesons. Should I attempt to watch the new season or am I better off finding time to go back and get caught up? (that could take quite a while)

Re: Pink Floyd on the Sopranos.

You should see season 5 if you can. It will get you into the lastest goings-on.

Anything prior to that is not so relevant.

BTW, HBO is currently showing season 5 stuff nightly.

RE: Season 6, Episode 1.

So, a bit of a surprise there at the end, eh?

Re: Pink Floyd on the Sopranos.

At the end of tonights episode, as club-wielding Paulie Walnuts smashes the knees of young Jason Barone, heir of Barone Disposal, One Of These Days plays as the screen fades to black...
