Lazy bastard. Claiming those bass riffs as his own.

Re: Gilmour the Floyd Bassist???

According to the articles I read on PF, yeah, Rog wasn't really that good at bass. But you've gotta admit, he was a brilliant songwriter. And Dave is the musical genius.

Re: Gilmour the Floyd Bassist???

So how were they able to pull these songs off live if Roger couldn't play them?

Re: Gilmour the Floyd Bassist???

maybe they used Dave on bass for time purposes. Maybe roger takes longer to learn bass lines......In other words he sucks. (meant in the nicest way possible)

My thoughts exactly. Man, I knew RW wasn't exactly a brilliant bassist, but that's just kinda a bummer to know...so, in responce I'm going to go into denial!

Yes, Rog sucks at his bass. But he DOES have a pretty good voice...

The think about one of these days, is that Waters could play it, he just couldn't keep it up for 5 some-odd minutes, so Gilmour did it. The riff is writen by Rog, though.

Re: Gilmour the Floyd Bassist???

'cause song writing is just as important as being able to play them.

Re: Gilmour the Floyd Bassist???

Why is there no way I wonder? How can we be so sure? Are we really that known with Roger's bass skills? Is there perhaps photographic evidence involved? Is it written down somewhere? Or is it the word ''funky'' giving away Roger can not possibly be involved? I'm quite curious where these theories come from. And so, if he really didn't play them then who did? David Gilmour? But why would he be capable of playing them while Roger wouldn't? He plays nice guitar? He is known to do killer funky bass lines sometimes? Again, photographic evidence perhaps? Or does the word ''funky'' just automatically point towards Gilmour? Is there not a possibility that actually none other than Rick Wright did it?

I suddenly find myself to be quite fascinated by this whole thing. No possible way of it being Roger what so ever? Where do these theories originally come from and are they credible? Is there proof at all? Or is it all just a wild guess?
