The whole album is awesome. If you get a little more comfortable with Yes music, or just feel daring, go for the Symphonic Yes DVD. If you think Close to the Edge is good already, see it with a orchestra. Pretty mind-blowing!
Ok, thanks.

I suppose, but if you watch the interview portion of the DVD, the only band member who really didn't see them as a nuisance is Jon Anderson, probably because he wasn't playing an instrument with them. I bet it's incredibly hard for musicians who have been playing a song for one way for 30 years, to play it a completely differant way with a symphony, not worth it!

If anyone has heard Tales From Topographic Oceans, what do you think of it? Some think it's one of the worst, pompous, overblown attempts at an album done by Yes yet. I think it's awesome. I like Revealing Science of God the most.

I love that album, but I don't listen to it as much as Relayer or CTTE.

Re: YeS fans?

To all Yes fans, as you may know the new Yes album "Fly From Here' is due the next couple of weeks or so, you can have a listen via "YesWorld" and click on itunes and check out the
30 second samples, i guess it's difficult to tell, you can be the best judge.

Re: YeS fans?

Late again! oh well,,,
The first time I heard of YES was after they split up in '81 and a friend lent me Fragile and I loved it. I had never heard stuff like that before. Then as was my usual routine, I got a biography (The Dan Hedges one) from the library and read it and was impressed by the idea of a double album with one song per side so I immediately bought Tales....
It took several listens but I got to love it too and it is probably my favorite YES album.
Although my favorite YES song became "Awaken" largely because I love the sound of the pipe organ and love Steve Howe's ripping guitar solo on the 12 string.

The only YES album I actively dislike is Open Your Eyes. That one is just dire. Even worse than Union.

Another song I have a great fondness for is Beyond And Before. The first song on the first album.
