Re: David Gilmour In Concert DVD: opinions.

Well, I for one thought the whole thing was brilliant. I simply couldn't fault it, although I thought Comfy Numb was hilarious with Wyatt (I just burst out laughing at that point).

Smile was very poignant I thought as well as Dimming of the Day. His performance of Bizet flowed very nicely. Such magic in that voice...

I couldn't care less if he looked slightly rough. It enhanced his appearance, actually....

You must admit the Grandpa Dave look doesn't really suit him though, I thought he looked much better on the songs filmed at this years' shows.

It was the open-toed khaki sandals that put me off.

Re: David Gilmour In Concert DVD: opinions.

I thought that his concert was outstanding. The musitionship was of a very high standard. I guess its the closest thing to Floyd unplugged were ever going to get. And it sounds great in sparkling 24bit 96Khz DVD.

Re: David Gilmour In Concert DVD: opinions.

I thought it was great!
I still can't believe how people, especially those who like Pink Floyd, are so damn obsessed by appearance. IT DOES NOT MATTER! Long hair, short hair, beard, no beard, clothes...
The music matters, it doesn't matter what the people performing it look.

Right on, maja. I don't understand what's the problem with Gilmour's silhouette. I just love the fact that he doesn't care for his look (not even in the Floyd days), he just goes on stage and plays.

That's the wonderful thing about Gilmour. He's so uncomplicated.

good but...

Well, I finally got the DVD after weeks of waiting.

I must say that as someone stated here, it's the closest thing to a floyd "unplugged" CD we are going to get.

There are certain things that I don't like about the show:

Guest appeareances by Wyatt and Geldof just SUCK. They don't even know their very few lines, totally out of tone and rythm if David new they were going to read the lyrics and sing like crap I don't know how he allow them to get on stage.

Choir...excellent (like most PF choirs).

I really really enjoyed the bonus track "I put a spell on you" he looks much better there by the way and for those who seem to care so much about his looks.

And I also think that instead of playing 2 songs 2 times he should have sang 4 songs one time instead.

I'm not sure on a 5.1 home theater setup , but on regular audio I just can't get to the heart of the chello and bass, I feel like missing all the feeling from those instruments.

For those how don't have the DVD yet have one thing in mind: this is not PF, this is Gilmour on a (musical) personal level singing more for himself and his fans than the PF fans.

Ride on !
