Question To Guitar Players Let me know which one is your favourite song to be played by guitar by yourself? Mine is "Is there anybody out there?". I know that it s a simple guitar part...but it has a nice tune. And Guitar Solo: The beginning of "Shine on..." I like the bending.

I like "Is there anybody out there" as well. Although for my clumsy fingers I wouldn't call it that simple.

I also like to play ITAOT? Also Fat Old Sun with plenty of Reverb, crunch, and volume. WYWH and Welcome to the Machine are fun too.

| I love to play guitar to Floyd midi files. Hook my PC up to some quality sound modules and it can sound magic. Some I've had to build from scratch, some come off the web with slight modifications. Currently my favorite to play is Echoes but when I practice I usually run through 4 or 5 tracks. Actually Ive just convinced the band I'm in to do a couple Floyd tracks. We do weddings, dances and stuff so mostly play pop, rock. Things you can dance to. I was thinking of ABITW pt2 and WYWH. I think they would go down well. I'd be interested in any suggestions though. | Well, you obviously cant dance to Comfortably Numb but it always goes down a storm in pubs and clubs etc.... |

Yeah I'd love to do that track. Could I get away with speaking the lyrics in the verse as waters does so well. Maybe I'd have to sing them ala Delicate sound of Thunder. I would not sound great doing the waters part and would probably be an insult. Regards

fun topic man, "A Pillow Of Winds" is weird. i can play it now, but the first few times i tried, i was blown away. its not complicated, but just the keys that are hit in that order makes it hard to learn. i like playing : "Marooned" Ive recently nailed this one, for the most part anyway. Dave sure knew what he was doing when he wrote this one. Im still having trouble with the slide-so-high parts. But you know, I'm no Dave Gilmour. "Dont Leave Me Now" I love using my Boss DD5 and my '63 Telecaster on this one. Very trippy echo works well with alot of Floyd songs. You have to time it just right though or it sounds like crap. Great song. "Grandchester Meadows" This is one of Floyd's best acoustic songs if you ask me. Very calm, nice imagery, an overall good summertime nap/picnic song. "Cirrus Minor" What can I say, this song is so cool. Too short, but I couldnt change it if I could. The late reverb on the vocals makes it really genuine and vintage. Good stuff. "Paintbox" Sweet song. Strange idea for a song, but really cool. Reminds me of something the Beatles would do, only better, because we all know the Beatles are overrated. (my opinion, leave it alone) "Fletcher Memorial Home" The solo on this song is about the only guitar on the track, but wow, its so emotional. Makes you feel like Clapton or B.B. when you play it, but still keeps its genuine Gilmour sound. Sorta gives me that 'look at me Im playing this solo, I feel like a huge blues star and its so depressing that it makes you cry your eyes out' sorta feeling. Now that I think about it, any Floyd song is fun to play....except a few songs from TFC and AMLOR.... Last edited by Seamus Laughs; 12-20-2002 at 02:53 PM.

Hey S.L., I was moved by your post... the fact that you have spent so much time on Gilmour licks is wonderful. As a fellow guitarist, all I can say is KEEP IT UP!! You're doing well AND teaching us 'old folks' something new!! Well done.... Just a hint.... As regards to marooned, have you tried a 'whammy pedal' to reach the high notes? That is what Gilmour used... All the Best, Jeff
