Does anyone know what kind of guitar David Gilmour usually uses in live shows, or what kind he used to record Shine on You Crazy Diamond? -LAXPLAYA223187

Re: guitar use Live? That would be the candy-apple red '57 reissue Stratocaster, with modified pickups and shortned tremelo arm. You can see all about the pickups here: http://www.emginc.com/Pro_DG20.html You can also read about Mr. Gilmours serial numbered #0001 Stratocaster here: http://home.tampabay.rr.com/richm/ggg9907.htm Read an interview with Phil taylor, his guitar technician here: http://www.pink-floyd.org/artint/dagear.htm Though, I dont know which guitar was used to originally record SOYCD, I certainly love to play it on my cheap Squier strat

Re: guitar use EMG make a Gilmour scratchplate with the same active pickups and electronics that Dave uses that will fit straight into a Strat and maybe even into a Squire. The reason he doesn't have a signature Strat is because he likes to play all sorts of guitars and doesn't want to be forced into situations like Clapton was in in the concert for the Queen where Eric was stuck playing a Strat for the solo in While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Re: guitar use It is usually part of the contract although outside of Fender some guys never play their signature guitar. I have not seen or heard Clapton use anything but a Strat for a long time. Which Gibson did he play, an LP? Id like him to go back to playing Gibsons.

Re: guitar use no he didnt play a Lp, he used an archtop. it looked like on of the old gibson byrdlands that is used by ted nugent. (lol) i saw this on direct tv on one of their freeviews (he used the gibson only once and that was on one of his jazzy songs.) when he went on one of his recent world tours. I also would like to see him play more gibsons. instead he plays his funky colored strat.

| Re: guitar use Those hollow-bodied Byrdlanders sound great. But, so does a quality Fender. Can't go wrong with either one.
