To the ones who were introduced to PF via Echoes: Back when the album was released I downloaded disk one and half of disk two. After a few weeks I neded some hard drive space so I had to clean up my mp3 collection. I had to delete Echoes, but I saved the songs that were my favorite. And they were: disk one - Marooned, Time, Keep Talking, Hey You, and Sorrow disk two - Fletcher Memorial Home, and When the Tigers Broke Free. Looking back that seems kinda odd, because almost all of the songs I liked came from the "sucky-unbearable-unlistenable-post-Roger-era" albums. Mind you, this was before I knew anything about the band, except that I knew they were supposed to be really good. Another thing I find wierd is that at that time, my favorite track on the whole album was probally Keep Talking. It seems that most people here consider it their worst song ever. I just think its kinda wierd.

I liked all of it for the most part, seeing how at the time it was all the Pink Floyd I could get my hands on. But in particular, I liked the stuff of Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, and some of the early singles. I didn't so much enjoy stuff from The Wall, but Echoes, the song itself, and Sheep were two favourites that I developed an addiction to.

I bought it and went "errr... what is this wieird hippy music coming from my CD player?" (Astronomy Domine and See Emily Play) I really liked the Wall stuff on disc one, and Echoes... although at the time my musical attention span wasn't up to listening to it!

If you're anything like me, there is still a reason to buy Echoes...to see how the songs segue into each other. To be honest, that's really the only reason I bought it. I already had the single version of WTTBF on MP3, (It's a little different than the movie version, which is the version on Echoes, and is, in my opinion, the better version,) so that was no reason to buy it. I wanted to see how the songs blended together. Could just be me, though. |

Picking up Echoes really got me interested in PF. Disk 1 The Happiest Days of Our Lives, Another Brick In The Wall, Keep Talking. Disk 2 Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Time, Learning To Fly, High Hopes.

i gave this a listen last night and i must admit it sounded pretty good. must have forgotten or never knew in the first place. the cuts in Echoes and Shine On really aren't bothersome to me now for some odd reason. I think because Shine On does sound cool in one piece, and also the cut down version reminds me of Pompeii. The segues are nice as well. I don't know, I guess I like the selection for the most part. Also, the Wall bits were utterly brilliant. anyhow, originally, my first intro to Floyd was from a friend buying Echoes, then shortly thereafter I got Dark Side, then Echoes, then the Wall...Wish, Animals and Meddle in one fell swoop..etc, etc, etc. yet to get my hands on More, Final Cut, Reason, Thunder or Bell.
