He means the OFFICIAL DVD obviously, not the fake one (sorry, eh). There's a whole thread about it, anyway the news is that it's in the works (David Gilmour himself is mixing the 5.1 soundtrack) and it's going to be released in the very near future.

He probably has the VCD, like a cheap DVD. They have a VCD of Pompiee too, I know I spelled that wrong, they work on DVD players, but they don't have the sound and they don't have the special features. Much better than VHS though!

VCD's are comparable to vhs but I wouldn't say the quality is any better.

Well I say it's better because you don't have to do all this damn rewinding and stuff, but your right the quality is basically the same.

Post Pulse DVD Issue

Greetings,

I got the so called Pulse DVD. Well, to be honest, the sound quality is pretty good, its more like the double cd quality, but less mixed, like drums are a bit lower in volume, and some parts of the guitar play were completly edited or replaced.
Anyway, when using the Bitstream mode of reading from the CD, i get it all with 5.1 Dolby Digital. But the seperation ain't as i expected.

The surrounds speakers arn't producing the high frequencies as it should... like hihats and percussions and some elements, well what i'm trying to say is that there isn't any seperation of the sound to 5.1, its simply regular stereo "converted" somehow to 5.1.

Now all this surly looks weird since i'd expect from PULSE dvd to be mixed much much better.

BUT you cannot even make the comparison to VCD nor VHS quality. These guys did a great job with this dvd.

It might be even the PROTOTYPE dvd. before been masivly mixed and released to public.

One big point i must say is that there are the 2 missing tracks i've been looking for "Take it back" and "One of these days"

Guys, "One of these days" is soooo great, i love that pulse version of that song... damn awesome great quality and drums, when you compare it to the live version of Delicated sound of Thunder live version. Shame is that there are 4 tracks missing from the double cds, which are: "Hey You", "What do you want from me", "Astronomy Domine", "A Great day for Freedom".

When making the comparison of Qsound mix (the double CDs set)
and the REAL sound of the PERFOMANCE, i must say and give a huge credit to Qsound studios, they did a great job with mixing, they repleaced so many parts of guitars and even fixed some untuned singing (with pitch), i had no idea how different in parts is the original live play without that special mix.
Those changes seem to be kinda impossible, but if they manage to do so, they surly have the perfomance seperated digitally into individual channels which allow them to mix it much better :P

I'll remain you guys with one question, if this happen to be really the faked/prototype..or anything else you would call that,
Will the Official PUBLIC sound better and more important is, will it be mixed for seperate channels as it really should ? How about using DTS ?

As far as i know, In the concert Pink Floyd used a quadrophonic sound system which causes some major issue with the Dolby Surround when being incompatible with Qsound mix production.

Keep me uptodate

This is all the information i've been digging so far..

Sincerely,
Gary Golbraich

Ok, first off it is the fake DVD. And second, how are we supposed to know if the sound quality is going to better. I'm not on David Gilmour's payroll.

Hi, new to the site. Just saw Pulse DVD on ebay at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3300986042 Lost by $1 in last few seconds. Seller said he's had it for about a month. Looks legit in the photo. Maybe it will be out soon. Let's hope.
