Talking Genesis fans?

Genesis is one of my favorite bands, definetly in the top five. Genesis had a great keyboardist, Tony Banks a decent guitar player, Hackett and a decent bass player, Rutherford. Phil Collins is okay on drums, and when Peter was on vocals, they were Unbelievable!

They released several albums with Peter and at the time they were probably one of the best Progressive Rock band IMO, Selling England By The Pound, Foxtrot and Trespass are some of my favorite albums!

They blew everyone away with Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, sure The Wall is extreamly original and I take nothing from it, but IMO it falls short of Lamb Lies Down On Broadway which was the orginal Two-Disk concept album (It came out several years before The Wall) And like The Wall they were going to make a movie, it was Peter's idea but the rest of the band didn't like it so they never made it!

When Peter Gabriel left Genesis was still an excellent band, Trick Of The Tail is another great album...

But then when Steve Hackett left Phil, Mike and Tony gave into the 80's producing thier last four albums, Genesis which was listenable, then Invisible Touch which is junk and We Can't Dance which is listenable. After Phil Collins left (thank god) they made one last CD which is not very popular, but highly reccomended!

Genesis is a major band in rock history, so what do you think of them!

It was a hard choice because so many come close.
Foxtrot has the 25 minute epic, Lamb Lies Down and Selling England are all excellent, but eventually I went with Selling England because of Firth of Fifth, The Cinema Show and Moonlit Knight, classic songs.

Actually, The Who's Tommy came out in 1969, then Genesis' Lamb Lies Down on Broadway in 1974, and then Pink Floyd's The Wall in late 1979.

So, really, Tommy was the first 'two-disc concept record', according to dates.

Just thought you'd like to know,

-Shane

Cool, I will surely check them out then, for some reason I always skip The Who at the music store though, don't know why.

Genesis rules by the way.

...So does Peter Gabriel, his solo career is amazing, he is awesome.

...I saw him in concert last Sunday, amazing stage production...lots of lights and stuff...

Peter Gabriel rules by the way.

I liked how you asked "What do you think of them?" and then immediately answered yourself.

Or that it was a double album?

I'm not a big Genesis fan, they always seemed a bit fey and whimsical to me and I can't stand Phil bloody slaphead Collins! What a tosser.
