I've seen Geddy Lee, Chris Squire and Tony Levin in concert, they are all wonderful bass players, but COME ON! Lets get serious, it's Chris Squire!

You can't really say that Paul McCartney was a GREAT bassist, I mean sure he composed cute songs and I still love him but he was never amazing at bass

all three of those guys are great bass players. Very important ones too. Good musicians, singer songwriters. Well not John Paul Jones, but he is also a very good organ player. Well when I think of bass players I think of them... oh and YS, Gene Simmons is an EXCELENT bass player! A bass player you wouldn't want to reckon with

While they might have been great people in music, very important maybe, but this does not make them great Bass Players, average at most.
