Orcs, Trolls and Elves: I literally couldn't give less of a shit.
I was waiting for the wrath of Fixxy, no-one puts SW down and gets away with it.

Sorry mate, but LOTR is currently shitting all over Star Wars in all of the areas you mentioned.

But that's just my opinion of course.

Mark, dude, you know I love ya, but come on face up to the music!
LOTR is ten times better. The story has so much more depth and it's more INTERESTING. Never at once did I look at my watch throughout the whole movie and I fell asleep in Ep 1 and went to the bathroom twice in Ep 2 (checked my watch several times) purely because I was sooooo bored!
Gerald: His passion for the dollar? Dude he desrves to get paid that much for what he did. I spent an effing month producing a three minute video clip and I had never worked so hard artistically with a camera. He's been working for 5 years, still got another year to go at that, and from what I can see he's quite humble, Geroge Lucas well he always seemed liek agreat big prick. Also youcan never make a film that'll be exactly like the book, it's too hard, with any film let alone something of this scale

The words of a desperate man - I'll say it again, Star Wars is infantile cack!

I didn't say he didn't do any work for the money. I did imply that the reason he's doing work is for the money, rather than for some sort of passion for the story. Had he true passion for the story, he wouldn't have done things needlessly such as (for example) invite the elves to Helmsdeep. Are you going to tell me that was necessary for a film adaptation? Or was it the result of seeing a chance to sensationalize even more an already aggrandized action movie born of a book that was good because of the characters (none of which remained true to themselves in the film)? Actually don't bother replying to this because I really don't think it's important enough to have a discussion about. My point is that the films are commercialization of art, which is a shame. Star Wars was never meant to be art, thus it is not a perversion of anything. Ergo, better.

OK...just a little bit.

Your talking about perversion? Commercialisation?

Phantom Menace
Attack of The Clones; and;
The next Pathetic Money Making Installment from Lucas.

I rest my case (for now).

LOL

As I said before no film will ever be what a book is and that applies to every film based on a novel. I mean come on A Clock work Orange was a brilliant film but compared to the book it was absolute shite. Now it's natural that it'll change it's what happens. Film makers have their own imaginations and visions and maybe as he was reading the book he thoguht to himself that these men could never have beaten those uru-khai by themselves so he decided to add his own bit to it. The point here isn't how much LOTR changed from book to film but just the fact that it's better than SW

cheers
