U2 And Your Opinion

I used to like U2, now I find their latest albums are very poor and I dislike Bono's stupid rockstar attitude ("I'm cool oh I'm sooo cooool"). They were technically a mediocre band with a good singer/frontman and only Brian Eno (they will never thank enough that man) turned them in something serious, allowing them to release two very good albums, The Unforgettable Fire and The Joshua Tree. Unfortunately their last great work is, in my opinion, the awesome Achtung Baby. Overrated band though.

This is what I'm listening to right now!

I have Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum and Achtung Baby, which I think was their best stuff. I think Bono is a great vocalist, but his politics annoy the hell out of me. I like The Edge for taking his guitar style in a different direction. I admire them for trying to keep themselves out of the "Sex and Drugs" aspect of rock stardom.

Haven't paid much attention to them lately, however.

I like Electrical Storm and a few other songs. I hate the rest. Why? Because I don't like them.

Exactly my thought.
(Even though probably i would not use such a word as "awesome" to describe AB. I'd rather say it is a good album)
I'd rate Achtung Baby, Unforgattable Fire and Joshua Tree a 7 out of 10; Boy, October, War and Under a Blood Red Sky a 6,5; R&H a 6, Zooropa and All That You Can't Leave Behind a 5 and Pop a 4

The title track of "The Unforgettable Fire" is my fav U2 song.

I agree with mad yannis also, I haven't really paid them much attention since Achtung baby.

I just can't believe this attitude that some people here seem to have here. How come you like one record and hate other made by the same band? It just doesn't make any sense. It's maybe true that Achtung Babe is better than Pop but so what? They're both great records. U2 are talented musicans and their every record reaches certain quality stantards.

I've noticed this same thing before. "yeah dark side of the moon is sooo great but god i hate the division bell! why they had to sell out!?". I don't want to start a fight but i really think you people should change your attitude and enjoy listening good music.

Mad Yannis: Bono's rock star attitude is partly dramatized. He used to play this "The Fly"-character in ZooTV-tour which was caricature of a typical rock star.

Hmm, lets see I love YeS's early stuff, but I do in fact hate thier 80's garbage, same with Genesis, is that wrong too.

It's almost not the same band, though I can't judge with U2 because I only have two albums.

It makes perfect sence to like some CD's more than others, and in fact hate some, sometimes a band sells out or just makes a bad album!

Maybe because one is a good record while another is a load of bollocks! Call me old fashioned but I don't blindly like any old load of crap just because of the band name on the cover!

Oh well, so you're saying that if an artist makes a good album then all of his/her/their production MUST be good... sorry man, but this is laughable.
I could name you many examples of masterpieces and crap by the same author (EL&P, Klaus Schulze, Deep Purple etc...)
