Household Objects

Who here thinks that "Household Objects" was the worst idea ever. I say this because I was not a big fan of Alan's Psychadelic Breakfast, but you goota admit, that would've sucked.

As it never saw the light of day does it matter how bad an idea it was? It's not like you've had to listen to it or anything.

It was a project that Waters wanted to do after Dark Side, using household objects and all that jazz. I was just wondering if anybody else thought that it was a bad idea to begin with, that is all....glad he chose to drop it.

I really hate to pass judgement without having heard it. Since, as far as I have read in this thread, it never saw the light of day, it looks as though I will never hear it. As much as it seems as though it was a bad idea, it could have been carried off rather well. Who knows?

They never actually did anything with it as far as I know, it was just an off the wall idea that they experimented with and then dropped.

I actually think the idea sounds rather cool. just go half a fill a wine glass with water then circle ure dampened finger round the top 2 see what i mean. :grin:

They apparently did three tracks before dropping the whole thing, it would have been interesting, but rather stupid in my opinion, but if anyone could pull it off....

I remember Dave saying that a bit of Household Objects (featuring wine glasses) can be heard at the very beginning of Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

I have just put SOYCD on with volume at max.

i cant say i hear it, i think we need to get someone who knows what theyre talking about to listen and see if they can hear it.

I just did the experiment myself - and it's pretty cool.

However, I can't hear it at the beginning, either. But I remember Dave saying that it was there...

I remember reading that they abandoned the idea because they could get exactly the same sounds they were producing by just using conventional instruments, which seemed to make the whole project slightly redundant. I must say I've never noticed any wine glass sounds at the beginning of SOYCD either.

It's quite audible actually. It's a sort of descending scale of crystal-like notes, at the beginning.
