Smiths fans?

The Smiths are one of my favourite bands besides the Floyd. Johnny Marr's powerful music and tantalizing, not to mention varying guitar styles, combined with Morrisey's moving lyrics, create, IMO, the best song writing duo of all time. Just wondering what any other Smiths fans out there had to say about the band. Maybe compare your appeal for The Smiths as to that of Pink floyd.

Re: Smiths fans?

I like Johnny Marr's work. Morrisey is one weird dude. They did a few songs I really liked.

Re: Smiths fans?

strangeways here we come in my opinion was the smiths best album.. ..however morrissey as a solo artist for many years has made some great records also 'vauxhal and i' perhaps being his best album to date..also 'your arsenal' is a great album to buy!....2 album's any smiths fan should definately own

the new songs sang live during a recent concert tour...such as:
the world is full of crashing bores:
mexico:
i like you:
the first of the gang to die:

are infact very strong tunes...and if by a miracle morrissey manages to find a record deal i will definately buy the album just for those tracks alone!

moz and marr definately we're a great song writing duo and their songs/style influenced many bands to come - although bands like the stone roses, the charlatans etc... we're never as original or sounded near as good as the smiths ofcourse!!

how do i compare the smiths to pink floyd?

personally i find pink floyd far far more appealing....after all who can compare the detail, the meaning, the brilliance of song writing that is *roger waters*

and although johnny marr is a very skillful, also fine sounding guitarist...not even he can compare to the amazing brilliance that is *david gilmour'*

cheers
