The Police

The Police are in my top five favourite bands, amongst Pink Floyd, Icehouse, The Smiths, and Dire Straits. I was curious as to what other Police fans held as their favourite album.

I found it a tough choice between Zenyatta Mondatta and Reggatta De Blanc, but in the end I had to vote for Reggatta De Blanc, mostly because of "Message in a bottle". Any other thoughts?

I am content with their Best Of and I'm not planning to buy their albums, actually.

Sting's turned into a bit of a pompous prat now though I'm afraid.

Re: The Police

"Turned into"? Always was a pompous prat, truth be told. And he STILL takes his top off. I mean, in Dune okay, but now? Yeesh!

I have all the listed albums and was quite satisfied with the first three, mildly disappointed with Ghost in the Machine and absolutely disgusted with Synchronicity. Go figure.

Brimstone and Treacle was better than the last one by a long way.

Absolutely. The police were such a great band, but I can't stand most of Sting's solo work. Nowadays he's always using all these jungle rhythms and stuff. Remember Desert Rose? Horrible!

*sigh* If only Sting would agree to a Police reunion tour.

If you look at a picture of Sting when he was in The Police, he's jumping up in the air with his Bass, without a shirt on. Now that was Rock and Roll! Nowdays, he'll be wearing a leather jacket and smiling like, as you say Dr Cheese, a 'Pompous Prat'.

No, he still takes his shirt off I'm afraid, although he's probably too old to do much jumping up and down.

Re: The Police

I like all of the albums equally but if I have to pick one its GITM.

Even is Sting wanted to reunite it would be difficult because Stewart Copeland is now the drummer for the Doors.

Apparently they're touring or something. It's not like their frontman is dead or anything.

Re: The Police

Yes, the Doors have reunited with Stew as the drummer and Ian Asbury(the Cult) as the lead singer. The played the reunion gig last Sept. and will be touring this spring with a new album. I dont know what to think about it yet but the reviews of the reunion were good. You can find out more at www.thedoors.com. They would be playing sooner but Stew broke his arm.

Also there have been 9 new cd's released in the past few years. All old material from the archives. Very good stuff if you are into the doors.

The doors are my second favorite group after floyd.
