Alcohol's affect on the floyd's music? Is there any?

O.k., i have read a lot about pink floyd and the ideas that they were all drug addicts and there music spawns from this. my guitar teacher tells me that anything that you write while high can just as easily be done while not high. even gilmour or waters said that they could record stuff for hours while high and it sounds terrible. wright said there is no way he could play his instrument "messed up." however, i hear that roger and some of the others drank a lot. i also seriously doubt this has any affect on creating music. alcohol makes you think less clearly, decreases one's motor skills, and overall does not set you up to make good music. maybe smoking a little pot or having a drink helps to relax these guys and other musicians while playing, but i just think it is ignorant to say things like " pink floyd and other bands music comes from their usage of drugs and alcohol." just wondering what everyone thought about this
