Pompeii DVD

Hey! One of my fave Floyd records/items has to Live at Pompeii and I also happen to be a digital whore so VHS is something that I cannot accept!

So, I was wondering if any of you floydians of there could confirm whether or not it's coming out in March like I've heard. Has EMI or Capitol or whoever made it official yet??

Hi and welcome TOF. Unfortunately no official confirmation from the label at the moment, anyway the subject has been largely discussed on the forums. Check the board and use the "search" function in order to avoid thread duplication. Thanks and enjoy!

You ever think we'll see an official "Pompeii" live CD come out? Like an album of the live songs off of Pompeii. The versions of the songs on the video are too good for them to not do this...

No. It's not going to happen, because the film (and the soundtrack obviously) is owned by Polygram (or whatever is called today) and PF are signed with EMI. This conflict prevented Pompeii from being released as an album.

BTW the DVD is going to offer the highest possible sound quality, so who needs the CD anymore? Then again it will be easy to extract the audio tracks from the DVD and put them on a CDR.

I've tried to rip the digital audio off DVDs before without any luck, so... when the DVD comes out (which I'm going to buy probably the day it comes out)... could somebody rip it and send me the Wave files so I can burn it?

Only reason I want to do this is because my CD player has far superior sound to my sound card.

.... Or maybe somebody proficient in ripping DVDs can give me a few tips... *wink* *wink*

This obviously is NOT the case. This exact same situation did not prevent Roger Waters - The Wall Berlin '90 from being released as an album on Mercury/Polygram Records.

That IS the case.
Roger Waters doesn't have the same contract of Pink Floyd nor the same record company.

Different times, also, that's the way things went, back in 1972, anyway.
