Gotta love DT Metropolis pt.2 is one of the best concept albums ever Id even go as far to say better than the wall and can you believe portnoy taught himself to play drums (until he went to berkley) their keyboard players a ****ing prodigy too acceted to Juliard at 9! John Petrucian is defeinetly the best guitar player around today and in june their new cd should be coming out cant wait!!!

I agree with your sentiments, but not with your grammar.

And I believe it's "Pettrucci" (perhaps with one less t).

And yes Dream Theater rocks. Looking forward to the new album. Any thoughts on this? Personally, I'm hoping they'll get a little more ambitious and get out of that rut they sunk into after SFAM. SDoIT and ToT were fine albums, but I think DT is capable of much more.

I really don't like 6 Degrees or Train of Thought..I mean they're good albums but the concept disc on 6 Degrees is sooooooo corny. The music is corny at some point on most of the albums, but these are some of the worst lyrics they've ever written.

Each song on Train of Thought sounds like they're trying to be one of the popular modern metal bands but with a little DT twist...I don't like that.

For once, you've said something I agree with. Though the first disc of SDoIT does have some great tracks...

Ja! Agreed! Great Debate is ****ing awesome!

And as for ToT :: Stream of Consciousness and In The Name of God... WOW! (Of late I've been digging that whole bass and guitar mini-solo that starts at around 8:40 ....

I agree, Six Degrees is fine as an album, as is Train Of Thought, but it's simply not up to the rest of their stuff. Images & Words is still the album I listen to most.

I was like how did this thread get 9 pages! Until I realized GeraldtheMouse and thorin were arguling over senseless crap. LOL.

On topic:

Yes Dream Theater is the best band right NOW. IMO of coarse.

Re: The Band: Dream Theater

Anybody picked up their latest album, "Octavarium"? It's very good. The self title track could be one the best peices of music I've ever heard.
