Rick Wright on Ummagumma live

On the remastered EMI Ummagumma Live album, there is a picture of Rick Wright on the first page of the booklet (after the cover, of course).

What is Rick holding/playing in this picture?

Greetings and welcome, Tower of Faith.

You have to give the worldwide APFFN membership time to see your post/thread before assuming they're unwilling to respond. Generally, many here are more than eager to respond to new members, though usually not in a very positive fashion.

Me? I don't have the LP to hand, but if I did, I doubt I could be bothered to strain me occulars to discern what it is Ricky boy is holding. I do know of one member here - FloydWright - who is a great RWright fan, and will probably be able to answer your question when/if she sees your post.

Hold tight,
BoaB

Why don't you just scan and post that picture here? I don't have the remastered edition but the crappy old one!
Anyway, a slide guitar? it might be. Rick plays slide on Sysyphus.

Sorry... it was more of a joke than anything else

Um, I would scan it but I have no scanner... but it probably is a slide guitar.

If so, what would Rick be playing slide on? Because it's a live photo, not a studio shot.

i'm looking at the picture but i don't know what it is either. it's like a 2X4 that is 2 feet long with 6 strings. and he's holding it like a guitar. could be a slide, but aren't those usually on a stand?

It's a 6-string slide guitar that Rick is (oddly) playing in the fashion of a real guitar.

This may be putting too fine a point on it, but it is actually a "Lap Steel" guitar that Rick is holding.

A "slide" guitar is a regular guitar that has been set up to play with a slide (steel) or botteneck (glass) worn on the finger. The action is set higher, and the nut is raised so there is less chance of touching the frets. It's tuned to an open tuning, of course. And it's held and played in the regular fashion.
