| Will The Real Pink Floyd Please Tour! If this has been addressed please forgive me and kindly direct me in the right direction. I have looked around and really had a question for seasoned PF fans to help me with. The question, could the Pink Floyd everyone loves Tour again? I have never got to see the band that I have grown to appreciate through their music in concert and I would really like to but is it possible? I saw Rush for the first time this year after their hiatus and it was a great surprise when I found out their would be a new album and tour. It the case of Rush it is basicly three members and their absence was due to Neils personal difficulties. Pink Floyd is a different animal. Their career and music influence spans a great deal of time and transition with the powerful leadership of Syd, Gilmore and Waters and the personal problems make it impossible to expect a regrouping of everyone in one harmonious unit. Thanks to the information that many of you have provided I understand the battle for the name but Who would Pink Floyd be? Not an imatation or name only but who could we go to see and enjoy and say yes that is Pink Floyd? I would love to see the band that provides such great music but is it really possible?

| Re: Will The Real Pink Floyd Please Tour! Try searching on "reunion" in the forums section and I'm sure you'll find tons on this perennial question that plagues many a Floyd fan. At a guess, the general consensus seems to be that though ANYthing is possible, a Rog/Dave/Rick/Nick Pink Floyd reunion is NOT very likely anytime soon.

They would be Dave, Nick and Rick with all the other myriad of musicians that they cart around with them ,who else could they be! Whether it is possible remains in the hands of Mr Gilmour. |

| Re: Will The Real Pink Floyd Please Tour! Dave is too old for these things , i thought that Nick And Rick , both ( !!!!! ) visited and shaked hands with Roger Waters , if Gilmour doesn't want to be in PF , Waters can easily come back now . |

| Re: Will The Real Pink Floyd Please Tour! Roger has said repeatedly that he will never perform again under the Pink Floyd name, he's moved on and so should everyone else! Besides that, even if he did want to come back, in the absence of Gilmour, I don't think it would be quite as 'easy' as you suggest. |

| Re: Will The Real Pink Floyd Please Tour! When I think of Pink Floyd, I think of Roger, David, Rick, and Nick together, with Syd's band also coming to mind, although I must admit I think of Syd's Pink Floyd as being a completely different group (Although PATGOD is one of my favorite albums). I certainly don't think of Anthony Moore, Polly Samson, Jon Carin, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, Nick Mason, and a plethora of other characters working together when I think of Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd is ultimately just a trademark. I could care less who uses this trademark in the future.

That's very true, I wonder how many so-called 'fans' would turn out if Dave, Rick and Nick went out under a different band name. |

For creative freedom. Stephen King released some books under a different name because he had issues with people buying his books just because they were his (and because he felt closed in with the "Stephen King" stigma). Gilmour has said a number of times that a certain product is expected when you create a Pink Floyd album...so if they DID feel like recording together again, but didn't want all the expectations...using a different name would be a good way to do it.

They've always had creative freedom as Pink Floyd! Quote:
We both know that's never going to happen.

For the most part, I'm sure this is an absolute, but there is an interesting twist to this, as described in Nicholas Schaffner's 'Odyssey' book, where in the early stages of production for AMLOR, Gilmour was 'read the riot act' by a CBS minion. It seemed that the record company was less than convinced that the music being recorded 'sounded like Pink Floyd', and legend has it that some material was sent to the panel beaters for a touch-up. So much for creative freedom (in this instance).
