The post above is an accurate description of Dave's rig for the "Pulse" tour but as to the DVD "David Gilmour in Concert" it is not. On the DVD, Dave replaces his strat with the EMG's with his vintage Gretsch DuoJet. I'm sure he did this because of the muted tone he gets from the Gretsch which blends with the smaller, more classical arrangement of instruments he chose (double bass, cello, concert grand, english horn etc.)

His main acoustic (on the first concert) is a Taylor 714c. The second concert he played a Martin D-28. He also plays a nylon classical and switches to a high strung Ovation for "Comfortably Numb". He used this exact Ovation when he recorded the track in '79.

The lapsteel he plays on the DVD is a vintage Gibson not the Jensen. They are way different.

Useless trivia question of the day:

What city did Dave buy his lap steel in that he used on Dark Side of the Moon?

Kinda off topic but I'll bite... Tokyo? (I'm guessing that since the Jensen is a Jap imitation of the Fender lapsteel that he got it on tour in Japan - I bet I'm way off and he got it in Bolton!)

He bought it in a Seattle junk shop in 1968.

Yes, it's true.

Re: Guitar Used in Gilmour Concert DVD

The guitar that Gilmour had custom made is a small, brown les paul-ish looking guitar. he uses it on the solo for "Money". It's got a very bitey, top-heavy tone. It's alright, but you'd have to be pretty selective with it.
