Yeah I wondered the same thing. Strange not to see him with a strat.

| AHHHHH, finally figured it out, the guitar is actually a gibson EH150 Lapsteel, post WWII, probably around 1939 as the buttons were on opposite sides pre 1939. Interesting enough, this is the first electric guitar model that Gibson ever made. I think i read that he had this custom made by some luthier in vancouver but that may not be accurate. More info. | I believe this is accurate. Taylor 712C, Prototype Martin D-28, The ovation used on Comfortably Numb is the same guitar he used on the original recording, strung with unwound strings. The nylon guitar was made by Jose Vilaplana and his electric is a late '50's Gretsch Duo-Jet, and the Lap steel again is a Gibson EH 150. Of course I may be totally off on the models but they are Taylor, Martin and Ovation for accoustic. |

How about the strat he plays on the Elvis song (one of the "bonus" songs). It's not #0001 but it looks pretty old.

Is the lap steel he used the one he got in the late sixties and used on the Floyd records or is it one he's got since then?

Btw what gauge strings did he use on the semi-acoustics 'cos he could really bend them. they looked more like electric strings.

To answer the question about his string gauges on the Taylor, it looks to me like Dave strung the 714C (nice guitar!) with a set of light gauge E and B and an unwound G string probably a 017 or 018. That is how he can do a full bend on the G in "Coming Back To Life".

This is a complete (I believe accurate) list of the instruments Dave Gilmour uses on the DVD. Gilmour's main stage guitar is a USA 57 Vintage Reissue Strat fitted with EMG-SA pickups. He has also installed the EMG-EXG expander & SPC midrange presence controls. Apart from the electrics, the only other custom feature is a shortened tremolo arm so that he can keep it in his picking hand more comfortably while playing. Other guitars used live are an Esquire Telecaster in dropped D tuning for Run Like Hell, two Jensen lap steel guitars one tuned to E B E G B E for One Of These Days & the other tuned to D G D G B E for The Great Gig In The Sky. He also uses two Gibson J-200 Celebrity acoustics one tuned in standard & the other in D A D G A D for Poles Apart & a Gibson Chet Atkins Electro Classical. Both the Jensen Lap Steels & the acoustic guitars are fitted with EMG-H pickups.
