Question Wall Question.

I realized tonight that my uncle has a nice record collection, notably The Wall... but when I read throught the lyrics, rather than Empty Spaces (on my CD), there was What Shall We Do Now?.

Erm. Did some checking. Question now... why wasn't this track on the CD?

Thanks!

It was going to be on the second side of the LP, but the second side had too much material on it - it physically wouldn't fit onto the LP.

It wasen't on the CD, methinks, because Waters didn't want the album to be tampered with, or was happy with the way the album was anyway.

It did appear in the film The Wall, and they also played it live in place of 'Empty Spaces'.

Those lyrics are in my record case too, but it's not on the record. I've been wondering that too.

It was cut out at the last minute. This happened with some of PF's tracks so the lyrics were printed on the case even though the song wasn't there. I think the lyrics were only corrected on the more recent remastered CD.

Roger removed that song in particular cos he thought it strayed from the narrative.

IMO it added to the narrative. It showed Pink's inner conflicts very nicely.

I do kind of wish it was on the CD, though. Takes a while to cue up on the movie.

I agree. It shows Gilmour's mastery at playing his guitar on the hairy edge of uncontrollable feedback.
