Queen guitarist sings Avril's praises

**Wed 15 Jan 03**
AVRIL LAVINGE ROCKS

"OK - no RANT today . ****** Only a RAVE !!! ******

The AVRIL LAVIGNE album currently residing in my car stereo is a blinder !!! It ROCKS!!!! Get it - quick !! - anyone who wants to know that rock music is alive and well, that is. Recently I've been smiling when I listen to Wheatus, and of course the Foo Fighters. But this girl - my GOD she kills!
It's engaging, witty, musically bright and original - and after 45 years of listening to guitar music I found chord sequences here that made me reach for my guitar to try them out ...

She sings passionately powerfully and magnificently in tune, she makes you laugh, feel sad, and sometimes just plain full of admiration for her perception - my favourite lyric - "make me anything but ordinary"...

Oh, and she's devastatingly attractive - does that matter ?? Well, probably... She also seems to have that lovely combination - brilliant, yet shy of her own appearance ....

Well guys - I'm SOLD. This is a serious artist - what joy !!!

Can't wait to catch her live show when she gets here...

Brian May
London 5.15am - 15th Jan 2003"

that was on brians soapbox - brianmaynews.com

Sent to me by a friend on MSN. So, yeah, suck on it.

It appears Brian and I share both tastes in music as well as women, and I consider her to have even more tenure if even *Brain May* endorses her.

That is all.

:o

Well, Avril IS the coolest, as I suspected.

If Brian May says it, then it must be true. So there.

<---- Look at her! She's awesome!

(knowing he will regret this in the morning),

-Shane

But surely Brian May is a complete tosser? Look at his hair for God's sake and why did he marry himself?

Don't worry, I'm sure good ole Brian will start doubting what he said right when he'll go to her live show, as he mentioned.
Not that I've seen one of her gigs (and I wouldn't, even if I got paid for it), but by watching her performing live (well, not completely, but the mike was plugged in) on TOTP I can assure everyone here that maybe more than her voice, it was that tiny little software called "AUTOTUNE" the one that sang "passionately powerfully and magnificently in tune" on the CD Mr. May treasures and plays in his car stereo. Right, the girl CAN'T sing, period.

I beg to differ. I saw her on MTV (completely live), and she can sing. She does a damn nice job of it, too.

I saw the same thing. Avril only sounds good when she's yelling/belting it out. Anything else sounds out of tune and weak. IMO.

I think we're drifting away from the main topic of interest here - so, what about Brian May's Hair then?
