Money version on ACOGDS

Is the version in "A collection of great dance songs" better or worse than the 'normal' one?

And this one has recorded before or after the Dark Side one?

Some anecdote about this version?

Thank you

Re: Money version on ACOGDS

The version is almost identical to the original one (it's long time I don't listen to it though) but it's performed entirely by David Gilmour which plays all instruments (!!!) except saxophone (Dick Parry). The song has been re-recorded for contractual reasons (the original one could not be re-released in the USA).

Ok, grazie! This is interesting.

The song is a bit different, guitar echoes and effects for example.

Also his voice is different, less aggressive.
(and maybe also a note in the bass round?)

Re: Money version on ACOGDS

I think the main difference in sound is due to the fact that more advanced outboard effects processors were used and obviously, Dave's "feel" is different from Nick, Rick and Rogers. On the whole though, it is very similiar.

yeah it's not bad for 2 reasons:

1- new Money version

2- to lend to the friends who don't know Floyd. Just to listen some of the best songs

Re: Money version on ACOGDS

Well, back in the early 80s the vinyl of Great Dance Songs has been the first Floyd record which I bought (I already owned a couple of tapes recorded by friends - The Wall, yes) right because it was a sort of Best Of. It seemed quite a good starting point at that time.

...and it still is. I burned a copy for a friend who was (somehow) unfamiliar with the Floyd...Now he is a massive fan.

You buy albums specifically to lend to other people?
