Something about Wales

I doubt this will ever go in any eisteddfod but sometimes the inspiration just hits, y'know?

Wales

What is Wales?
To some a land of hills
A beautiful place where artists come
And people hike
Up the craggy peaks
Only pinpricks compared to the Himalayas.
Land of Arthurian myth
and patron Saint David,
The land where Merlin the great wizard roamed once.

To some it is a place of strife
Best expressed in culture clash
And industrial unrest
In the mines
That once yielded our wealth.
Or even in age-old battles with great heroes
Such as Llywelyn the Great
Or that troublesome Owain Glyndwr.

So I ask again
What is Wales?
On the one hand revered
But on the other
Still a small part of the United Kingdom.
This may seem like a Plaid Cymru rant
But I'm not of their ranks.
I am of the ranks
That just wishes
We weren't stereotyped so.

Re: Something about Wales

I confess I know not much about Wales (or even the UK. Heck I don't even know half of the country I spent the better part of this young life in)... but it does seem you have problems with "typical"ness...
