Question DSOTM Mobile Fidelity UHQR Pressing

Prices seem to be all over the map for this rarity. I've seen a semi-trashed copy for $150US and a still sealed copy that the guy was asking $1,500US for. Only 5,000 copies pressed back in 1981 on 200 gram virgin vinyl in a thick black box. Anybody have a clue on what they're worth today?

well, the box is the thing that makes the difference. You can pick the regular 180g MFSL pressings in the heavy card sleeve for relatively little. I picked up one for $100AUD recently, which is in magic condition, whilst the first one I picked up I paid $30US for a not particularly well cared for (but playable) version. The secret is in the font on the yellow strip along the top of the sleeve face. I think that the truly original pressings came with a heavier type, whereby later issues came with a slightly more refined art deco style font. I don't know how this applies to the boxed version, but contact a private dealer and ask them for an objective pricing on this item.

Cheers,

Mark
