Re: cant sleep (as usual)

I'm currently uncomfortably nestled in the claws of insomnia (a problem which I wrestled with before) and am getting quite, quite, pissed off with it. You can see in the photo below that I have helpfully included that even my bloody hair looks fucked off with this arrythmic circadian dilemma.

I know that I am.

I am Jack's heartbeat pigmeat.

Sorry old sport. Melatonin is a hormone. Derived from typtophan (or Serotonin, depends on how you look at it), Melatonin is secreted from the pineal gland (a gland the size of a pea) in the human brain.

Put you to sleep? Doubtful.
Does it regulate sleep? Probably.

Melatonin levels alternate with the amount of light percieved - thus their levels peak at the darkest hours.

cheers,

Not to be a smartass fixxey but how about a few pints before bed won't that help and maybe a little smoke . Or listen to Dave's new disc 'On an Island' that puts me out. Regardless I hope you get through it.

Re: cant sleep (as usual)

If I think I have left the oven/iron on or the backdoor open it always sends me to sleep.

I lay in bed thinking "God I'm not tired, might get up and read a bit or watch some telly... I am never gonna get to sleep...bugger I left the back door open and someone will prolly break in and massacre us all... Ill get up in a sec and sort it out...any minute now Ill get up... god this bed is comfy...must...stop...massacre...Zzzzzzzzz"

Only one of those is an arrestable offence, only one of those should be an arrestable offence.

Bad idea actually - especially the alcohol...

Trust me, it'll make the problem worse.

And to save you the trouble of trying don't overdose on Nytol, I tried it a few months back when I was going through the same shit and it made absolutely no difference whatsover. I paid good money for it too

Re: cant sleep (as usual)

I tried that a few years ago but my body fights it, being that it's a quite unnatural kind of drowsiness that it promotes. I ended up slightly getting the fear and it also doesn't keep you asleep + you feel fucking grumpy the next day.

So, no Nytol (ever again) for fixxy.

Leaving the grill on works too, albeit temporarily. Eventually the smell of melting plastic wakes you up and you run down to the kitchen to find smoke billowing out of the darn thing and all the knobs and handles have melted and are on the floor. Then of course there's the added cost of a new oven.

Mark, I recommend you don't go down that route either!
