Re: Syd's Guitar Tones

I want one of those good old Vox30 AC amps, but they're pretty expensive... i have a vox 15 W amp now, i really like the sound. Along with a Epiphone Les Paul Studio

I'm quite satisfied with the guitar as well, it's not too heavy either.
My next guitar will probably be one of those half-acoustic ones. Epiphone Dot or so (since i'll never afford a Gibson, or are even close to a decent guitar player).

Re: Syd's Guitar Tones

Just experiment. I've gotten Metallica sounding tones out of a Fender amp. It's all about experimenting.

Yeah, something like that. I've never seen him play it, though.

That would be a good choice. Also, check out the Ibanez "Artcore" line of semi-hollowbodies. They are very economically priced, and seem to be modelled after not only the Gibson ES335, but Gretsch's, etc.

Yes, Syd's Danelectro is/was a DC-59.

Re: Syd's Guitar Tones

He used: A Fender Esquire or a Danelectro DC59 (shorthorn double cutaway) into a Vox Wah pedal, a Dallas-Arbiter FuzzFace, a Binson Echorec, and finally, the amp, a Selmer Treble 'n' Bass 50 mk 1 amp.
