He wasn't comparing DVD-A and SACD, he was comparing AC-3 and DTS to DSD. MLP and DSD are nearly identical, I agree. But Guthrie's point is that nobody who buys DVD-As and plays them on regular DVD players is going to hear the MLP, they are going to hear the DTS or AC-3 (because it's a regular DVD player and not fully MLP compatible), and those are without doubt quite inferior to MLP and certainly inferior to DSD.

It's a little compressed, maybe 1db. But there's absolutely no clipping. A slight amount of compression is a side-effect of the DSD process, but I'm more than willing to live with it because the resulting sound is so smooth and warm.
