Wall posters?

Well today I got a new poster. It's the artwork from Radiohead's "OK Computer" with some of the lyrics (I'm not sure if you'd call them that) from "Fitter Happier". It's really cool, and fits in well with the decorum of my room.

I've found posters and various other wall hangings to be cool; it's sort of a form of self expression. So, I decided to start this thread to talk about everyone's wall hangings (I guess it's not just limited to posters). So tell us about them!

For me, I've got several other posters: the very large Pink Floyd "Back Catalogue" poster, the James Bond "Poster Checklist" poster (has every Bond movie poster on it), a promo poster for the Jackie Chan movie "Shanghi Noon", a black and white poster of U2 (the ATYCLB cover), a National Geographic map of the known universe, a section with a bunch of small prints (Van Gogh's "Starry Night," 80's era REM, various space shuttles/rockets), and on the ceiling a glow in the dark map of constellations.

I'm rather proud of my poster collection. But there's one that I'd love to have, but I know is rather rare: a B&W of Pete Townshend arched back, about to smash his guitar, with the words "This Guitar Has Seconds To Live" at the bottom.

Re: Wall posters?

Artwork I've made that lives on my walls:

-Huge (49"by49") enlargment of Tubeway Army's debut single, "That's Too Bad/Oh! Didn't I Say" that my friend and I made with black and white latex paint...
-Promotional artwork for the play I produced and co-directed last year ("The Good Detective")
-"Cult Warship #1 & 2", a diptych landscape in photography and lithography
-Digital composite mosaic of my face, made up of 500 album covers

Mounted posters:

-Digital composite mosaic of William Shakespeare's face, made up of photographs from the last 50 years of the Ontario Stratford Festival
-Radiohead's "UNDER A BIG TOP" artwork from the Kid A era
-A still image of Trent Reznor's screaming face from NIN's "Head Like A Hole" video

Other posters:

-Dark Side of the Moon (the design with live photographs from the original vinyl package)
-Animals album cover
-Queen II album cover
-An enormous black and white photo of Led Zeppelin live at Madison Square Gardens, 1973
-Thom Yorke performing onstage with Radiohead in 2002
-The Beatles at "The Cavern Club" in Liverpool
-Nine Inch Nails "Live at the Kool Haus, Toronto, May 2005" limited edition lithograph
-Nine Inch Nails "Live at Gund Arena, Cleveland, October 2005" litho
-Nine Inch Nails "Live at Air Canada Centre, Toronto, November 2005" litho
-Nine Inch Nails "With Teeth - 5-03-05" promo poster

Misc. stuff:

-A "TRINITY ST." road sign stolen from downtown Toronto
-George W. Bush's resume
-"Zero Gravity Toilet" instructions from 2001: A Space Odyssey on the door to my bathroom

Re: Wall posters?

I have three posters with the three plays in which I worked making the soundtracks (half own compositions, half others' songs).

My favourite was Hamlet. I used some NIN ("The Frail", "The Great Below") and Tori Amos ("Gold Dust", only the closing part) there. For the fight between Hamlet and Laertes I chose "Fight Fire with Fire" played by Apocalyptica. The beginning suited the action perfectly as the rules for the duel are stated and they politely pick up their swords. Then the "heavy" part begins and they start fighting. "Mother" (the movie version) was an obvious choice for the scene between Hamlet and his mother (when Polonius gets "accidentaly" killed).

Re: Wall posters?

That's sweet, I just finished doing something similar for my friend's play Trainspotting, which opens on Wednesday.

Re: Wall posters?

Yes, I had three "pretty good years" while working with that theatre company. We didn't have a theatre of our own so we had to go from one place to the other on a coach. Sometimes we went to towns which were quite near and sometimes we had to drive 3 or 4 hours till we got to the place where we were going to perform. One day we went near Gibraltar in the south of Spain, that meant crossing all the country since we live in the north. Those were the days...

It was a great and very interesting experience. The actors (mainly women) weren't professionals but some of them were well over their fifties and they had been acting since they were young so they had loads of experience. The other interesting thing is that the majority of them were totally or partially blind (the company belonged to the national association of blind people in Spain) and they had a lot of tricks to act and move through the stage in a natural way. The aim was that the people were watching actors who, incidentally, were blind; not blind people who were acting. The music had an important role because -apart from being part of the general mood and aesthetics of the play- it was an important cue for the actors to move in or out of the stage or to start doing a given action on the stage. I wouldn't mind doing it again at all.

Re: Wall posters?

I've got the same Radiohead poster that Brainwashed mention, as well as a Hail To The Thief (album artwork) and Kid A (lots of little minotaur faces), Velvet Underground & Nico, Hendrix at woodstock, Led Zeppelin "stairway to heaven", The Clash's London Calling, The White Stripes sitting at a table smoking with a little radio, Led Zeppelin concert poster, huge DsotM poster, and that's about it.

Re: Wall posters?

I have the Beatles (all of their album covers w/ dates and whatnot), the movie poster from LotR: The Two Towers, the Maltese Falcon, a "Beware of Wombat" sign a friend gave me, and a black & white pic of some cathedral or another that was here when I moved in and just seemed to belong. Also, I have a four foot tall cardboard cutout of Ford Prefect (from HHGG), that a friend of mine made me leaning against the wall in the corner.

Re: Wall posters?

well, well, let's see I have 2 Bob Dylan posters, one with Bob playing a Jazz bass and the other is kind of a "painting" of him, and he's got funky colored hair (I like this one a lot). One "Clash City Rockers" with the Clash on it obviously, Pink Floyd Ummagumma album cover, The Ramones standing in the street with "Gabba Gabba Hey" written in the back, Clockwork Orange with a close up of Alex's face, Trainspotting with a very wet Renton on it, The Velvet Underground and Nico album cover, 2 of the Dead Kennedys. And hundreds of little photos of various bands. On my ceiling there's a couple of Flogging Molly logos and aluminum stars and other shiny stuff...

I almost can't see the paint on my walls with all this stuff but I really like my room.

Re: Wall posters?

Speaking of Trainspotting again, our little play got mentioned in the National Post! Rave reviews from the student papers, we sold out the theatre on Friday and Saturday, and negotiations are underway to extend the run next week...
