Re: Ummagumma

It was good to see them just trying new things and throwing out the rule book. the members solo albums didnt come until later apart from music from the body so I think its good to have a solo thing here, we can see what each of them was thinking.

Everytime I get to the Grand Vizier's Garden Party, Pt 2, around 3:30 I always think that my cd player is skipping for a moment. I can't really see much else positive to say about his contribution to this album, but his drumming on the live portion holds it all together, his writing creativity is lacking a little (song-wise, his book is tremendous).

Has anyone seen the review for the album at allmusic.com lately? They gave a tick (i mean, the literal tick on the tracklisting) to Several Species as the highlight of the album on the studio side, and nothing to Meadows, Narrow Way Part 3 etc? I realise it's all opinion but come on!?

I think I know what your talking about with the skipping part on Grand Vizier's Garden Party, Pt 2.

I think it was ment to be there, just to scare you, or make you think, or take out the CD and make sure it isn't all scrachted up.

Who Knows???

Re: Ummagumma

I'm pretty sure allmusic weren't sure what to think, so maybe they recommended the only track from the studio album that's ever made it to a compilation ("Several Species" was on Works, remember)?

You do have a point there. Then again, who visits allmusic anyway?
