I heard him first in the movie Natural Born Killers which made me think he was just as erie and then I read an interview with DG about what was one of his fav songs at the time. He said' "Closing Time by Leonard Choen". So I checked the song out on Napster and I liked it instantly. So I bouhgt the album. I like it.

Re: Leonard Cohen

The only song of his I've really gotten into was The Future, and I can only find the version from the NBK soundtrack, yet the version on the soundtrack is like, two verses shorter than the version that is actually in the movie, and that has always bothered me.

Re: Leonard Cohen

Depressing as hell, and he can't bloody sing. Quite a brilliant lyricist, and has the same in common with Dylan and Neil Young: lovely lyrics, bloody terrible voice.

The Prince of Wales lists him as his favourite. Yeesh!

Re: Leonard Cohen

Now, I haven't experienced his other work, but I think his voice is perfect for The Future. It's rough and ugly, just like the scene he is painting in the song. I'm going to listen to some other Cohen stuff now.

Here's a great performance of The Future.

Re: Leonard Cohen

That is good. It's funny, though, how it's such a dark disturbing piece yet the ambiance here is like a lounge song. Oh, and the removal of the anal sex reference.

It's a great performance, though, and Mr. Cohen's voice is perfect.
