Pulse CD, worth buying

This is my first post on this site. Been listening to PF for a few months now and I love their music.

I've read that the Pulse CD is kind of bad because the audiance is too loud and the band is sometimes drowned out. Is this true?

Do yourself a favour and make your own decisions, there's nothing wrong with the mix whatsoever. PF's always been reputed for quality recordings anyway, so I think 'they' must be taking the piss. Anyway, let us know how you get on.

Spokenspells is right, decide for yourself, download some tracks from internet as a sampler and make your decisions... Anyway I think the recording quality is just excellent.

Pulse is good, but ... I don't exactly know how to express it, I think it just flows and flows and does not have the explosiveness of In The Flesh, ITAOT or Ummagumma. It's just hmm...nice track...hmm...nice solo. But this "lack of energy" (until the encores) is I think the matter of the new songs most of the time. You know, there's hardly any fast and dynamic song like, for example, Sheep on Division Bell. Plus the Dark Side Of The Moon is not surprising overally - just exact copy of the original (with all its greatness and musical virtuosity of course) with the exception of Any Colour You Like, which has very nice soloing as usual.

No, I agree, not the most exciting - but the mix is A OK and that's what was originally asked. There are still some fine moments on there though.

Of course. They play lots of the best tracks of their career.

It's quite a good album, but as Neshabur said, it just sort of flows along with nothing that dynamic juping out at you. I also did not see the point of tryig to recreate Dark Side Of The Moon live.

Uh... as far as I knew, Sheep came out 17 years prior to TDB.

As for Pulse, it was okay. However, I would highly recommend The Delicate Sound of Thunder instead.

I think he meant that there are no songs like Sheep on TDB.
