Question Will the new dark side SACD play in my dvd player?
I have an RCA dvd player and was wondering if the new DSOTM SACD will play in true 5.1 or not. It has DTS and all that but i'm just not sure. If not I have a Playstation 2 would that work?

You have to check the booklet of your DVD player for SACD capability. You will be able for sure to read the Stereo CD track of the SACD (it is a hybrid SACD you know) but probably (unless you have got a recent and expensive model) you aren't going to play the proper 5.1 SACD track. What's for sure is PS2 has not SACD compatibility, even in that case you will be able to read the normal stereo track though.

But i read on here somewhere that it is a double layered disc. Meaning it will play in 5.1 Dolby DTS. Is this true? Let me know what you think

The 5.1 track is the proper SACD one. It is called "hybrid" or "double layered" because it has in addition a normal CD Stereo track which you can play on normal CD and DVD players.

So did I just preorder this for no reason?? Is it just gonna sound like the regular disc??? If so then why did they great a great cd if no one has the right player to play it on???

We have a Sony dvd player, as SACD is a Sony format all their players automatically support it.

So if i get a new sony cd player it should play it in 5.1 right? or does it have to be a dvd player? I need a new cd player anyway

I'm not sure about cd players but all their dvd players support it.
