I have (at last count, about 2 months ago)

597 LP's (Thats vinyl 12" thingys)
748 CD's
211 DVD..of which 38 are concert/music related..

Well being only 16 I'm proud of my 291 album/3139 song/10 day, 2 hr music collection. 99.9% good stuff too. I'd have to say at least 70% of it is legally acquired too (though I wish to eventually own most of it that I've burned/downloaded legally someday), more than most can say...

I've only been collecting music for a year and a half or so, and a bunch of them I bought over the summer when I had nothing to do. I have 94 CDs, 1 LP, 0 Tapes. I have 11 Music DVDs.

almost 18 gigs of music. I rip all my cds to mp3s. Even though the quality isn't as great.

I rip all of my cds to mp3 (or AAC or some lossy format) because I have an iPod...but at 160kb encoding there really isn't that much of a noticable difference between AAIF (or other non-lossy formats). Even 128kb is bearable sometimes.
