Fave Rick Wright work?

Hi, I'm back. I was absent for a while because I travelled but also to avoid a protagonist on this site, who has left I'm pleased to see, thought I was a prat. Well I'm not and I took offence at it so I had a cooling off period.

I want to ask this because Rick seems to be ignored, yet he's also had a solo career and is an integral part of the band as well. Where would they be without his haunting melodies and excellent keyboard technique? I don't know.

I have been converted to Rick's work but I can't make a good judgement yet until I've heard all his stuff. I just want to know what everyone's fave Rick work is out of curiosity.

I predict FWr will be the first to reply to this...

Erm, I don't know if I really have to reply to this post. I think it's obvious that my favorite Rick Wright work is Cat Cruise

Re: Fave Rick Wright work?

Favourite *solo* work? The best album is IMO Broken China, even if I am very fond of Wet Dream. His best solo song... it's more difficult, Sweet July, Breakthrough and Summer Elegy are probably my faves. Considering the work with Floyds, Great Gig.

Re: Fave Rick Wright work?

While the great gig was good, I disagree that it was his best work while in pink floyd. I personally liked "wearing the inside out", but I don't think that would count, since Moore wrote the lyrics.

So if it doesn't count, I'd go with "Remember a Day". Trippy.

Why let someone else ruin your fun? Also, there is a report this post to moderator link, make good use of it in the future if need be.

Solo Album: Broken China (of course that's my only one).
Solo Song: Reaching for the Rail
With PF: Great Gig or Wearing the Inside Out.

Re: Fave Rick Wright work?

As with CatCruise, I shall choose Remember A Day from Floyd's early years, then See Saw when Richard could carry a tune.

I wouldn't touch ANY of his solo works with even a twenty-foot barge pole, though. Ugh!

Re: Fave Rick Wright work?

I think my favourites of his with Floyd were Summer '68 and Remember a Day. Also, even though he's only partly responsible for it, I like Stay.

Haven't you been paying attention? Broken Dreams and Wet China. OH, if only there was somebody who could explain it all to you, tell you every dripping detail. Me, oh my, who is gonna help this poor boy out?

Yes, and usually it's better than Dave's and Roger's.

Re: Fave Rick Wright work?

Please. MY what HAVE you been smoking?

Ok, I realise this will end, as usual, as a matter of personal taste and choice, but I was unfair to Boken China earlier, in that having heard Breakthrough Live with David and Rick last January, I can and occasionally do listen to it. But that's it.

And after Roger's show in June - was it just June? - ATD is now much more accessible to me than ANYthing on Broken China.

I like Roger, you see, but I AM a Gilmo'ho'. Rick and Nick are essential side dishes, of course.

Re: Fave Rick Wright work?

Yes, ATD is quite good but I still prefer Broken China. I just can't stand the rest of Roger's stuff. As for Gilmour I think About Face is very poor, and DG is good but Wet Dream is better (for me). Obviously even Rick did a poor album (Zee's identity) but as you can see, between the Floydian solo offer I like only 2 by Rick, 1 by Dave and 1 by Roger. This explains my blasphemous affirmation.
