Oscar 2003

So- what does everybody have to say about the Oscars last night. I think it's great Chicago won so many because it deserves it. Eminem now as an Oscar- that's cool, too. Any other thoughts??

Re: Oscar 2003

The Oscars suck and ignore all but the most formulaic trash thrown at the masses. Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish.

Re: Oscar 2003

Yeah, maybe it would be nice to see a movie win that wasn't made by a studio run by Harvey Wienstien.......

Re: Oscar 2003

Amen. Although the movies put out this year from the Weinstien camp aren't bad- Chicago was one of the best movies ever. Lord of the Rings was cool- but the only one nominated that wasn't fromt the Weinstien circuit was THe Pianist. But that won best director (I didn't see the Pianist, but it should have been Scorcese or Rob Marshall) and actor (again, didn't see Pianist, but Daniel Day Lewis was phenominal).

I believe it's nothing more than an extravagant publicity stunt. Though the reason escapes me always...

Re: Oscar 2003

My aussie pride swelled when our Nic won. I quite liked it last night. previous yr it was often very boring, it was quite nice last night. Me and oscar have a special connection back in the day of the war the only thing on TV to look fwd to was Oscars, only contact with outside world and the beautiful people

cheers

Re: Oscar 2003

I hadn't seen any of the movies nominated this year, but I read The Hours, and it was a cool book, it might make a wierd movie though.

Re: Oscar 2003

Micahel Moore is a great director, but what he said was out of line.
Chicago was a cool musical...

Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine is a farce.
