| Re: Which is better Animals or Meddle? Re-reading my own comment now, it seems I was speculating on your output of flatulence in a weakened state. Poor form, really; I don't know what I was thinking. |

Echoes was a great beginning to what the floyd finally became but Animals is when they were in full swing, the abuse and pain that people were feeling at the time comes out in every note. I'm writing an album called 'PIG RUIN' and I am going to ask Roger to Scream "He went out of the Sewer!" at the end of a song called 'Animal Crackers' (Keep your fingers crossed that he helps) |

| Re: Which is better Animals or Meddle? Meddle has my vote simply because of "Echoes". For one thing composition of "Echoes", these guys didn't sit though two years of Music Theory to understand how to compose a proper piece of music. It conveys so many emotions, the light and the dark spooky stuff. By the way I flunked that last semester. |

| Re: Which is better Animals or Meddle? I'm picking Meddle over Animals. Neither are in my top three, probably more in the middle of the pack. I am glad I own both though as they are worth having. Pigs (Three Different Ones) is the only song on Animals that I don't care for. The others are fine but not my very favourites. I think this an album I need to listen to more often and maybe it will grow on me more and I will change my mind. San Tropez and Seamus I don't like on Meddle but I really like the rest. |

| Re: Which is better Animals or Meddle? Meddle, for Echoes and Fearless. But the solo in Dogs... my god... two PF albums shouldn't be pitted against each other this way! |

Wonderful. Also a great script. Very clever!... ...oh yeah,,Animals or Meddle...ummm.......no. Can't do it. Dogs is my favorite song but Animals isn't my favorite album. That would be The Wall. And "Echoes" isn't one of my favorite songs but "A Pillow Of Winds" is. Well, I'm no help! Sorry. BTW, does anybody here like Van Halen? Last edited by Daphne Blue; 11-25-2011 at 07:00 PM. |

| Re: Which is better Animals or Meddle? Actually, the Van Halen reference was a sort of joke that seemed to do the rounds back in the "day". The best VH fiasco was this one:http://www.pinkfloydfan.net/t2548-van-halen-fans.html Very uninformative but very funny! Anyway, maybe one day there will be some sort of a renaissance around here although pretty much everything has been said and then some. Meanwhile there's lots of good info and discussions and silliness to look back on. It will take some time to exhaust the contents of this place and new comments DO trickle in from time to time. We'll see... |

| Re: Which is better Animals or Meddle? Thank goodness because I really don't care for them. lol I'm having fun just reading what everyone has written on the forum... But I think that if starting new threads wasn't frowned upon, it might be slightly busier, repetitive, but busier. |

| Re: Which is better Animals or Meddle? OK! Now lets get serious folks, I know you all came here to enjoy a serious discussion about PF artifacts, so: I listened to Meddle all the way through last night for the first time in years and I really enjoyed it. My summary is that it's a very "light" album with not a lot of heavy lyrical depth. Kind of relaxing and fluffy. That's not an insult. I think it's an apt description of the record. Perfect for relaxing to... Like I said, I haven't played it in it's entirety for quite some time, so I'll probably listen to it for a few more times as I am wont to do from time to time when I enjoy something. The funny thing is, I'm sure to most people who frequent this site, is that I'm inclined to Atom Heart Mother on a regular basis. That album gets regular airtime on my turntable/iPod way more than Meddle or Animals, but as I have mentioned before, "Dogs" is my favorite PF song and I have it on a mix playlist, therefore, that song gets much more play time than all the other albums etc...blah...blah.... As far as comparing the two albums in the post's heading, you can't! Meddle is full of fluffy relaxation while Animals is full of more aggressive music and vitriolic social commentary. I haven't heard Animals in it's entirety for a long time too, so maybe I'll give that one a go tonight and weigh in tomorrow. |
