Which is better Animals or Meddle?

I cannot believe this thread was actually started.

These albums cannot be compared or held higher than the other, because they are very different albums. 'Meddle' is from the early 70's, and 'Animals' is a late 70's record. The latter of the two is mostly a concept album from Roger, as 'Meddle' is just full of good songs from a band who worked together as a team.

Not sure what to say

Meddle, by a long shot, for me anyway. In fact I'm listening to it right now I could care less about Seamus and sometimes I even skip it, like I will in a few minutes. But the three acoustic songs are what win me over almost as much as Echoes, which of course I absolutely love. One of These Days is an okay song, but not one of my favorites, but it's great to diversify and start the album, yeah?

Meddle is an album you could listen to while sitting around in an apartment overlooking the city while you drink your milk shake. I like that loose relax-factor in Floyd more than their more angrier stuff. Not that I don't like Animals, but I'm more attracted to their softer songs.

Had to go for Animals. It's just such a great album.
Not that Meddle is a bad album. It's just my musical taste.

Meddle has One Of These Days, Fearless and Echoes. While Echoes may be one of the best Floyd tracks ever, ANIMALS is far more consistent.

Meddle easily even if the filler tracks arn't fantastic they aren't bad and it is easliy made up for by OOTD and Echoes, where as Animals is a collection of half hearted tracks that has little in it that I enjoy.

Both are in the top 5 Floyd albums for me, but overall... I'm not sure. I voted Meddle, but reading this thread made me doubt my choice. A lot of the comments like some Meddle songs being "weak" are right on. But then, for Animals, it's hard for me to get into Dogs. Kind of a bleak song, for me, but it's still good. The rest of Animals is almost flawless, however, (except for some equally bleak parts in Pigs (TDO)). Echoes is of course the best of either album, and OoTD is very good, but overall, I guess I would say Animals. Too bad I voted for Meddle...

And the inclusion of a solo on either Pigs on the Wing would've ruined it, IMO.

Ok I retract that due to the fact I just got the vinyl edition of the album which is fantastic compared to the CD. The CD tracks sound washed out and life less where as the vinyl is like a whole new album. I still much prefer Meddle but Animals has shot up in my estimation.
