How about a new theme

If you could have a new theme for this board, which one would it be. The ones to choose from are nice, but how about another one. I would have to choose The Division Bell.

Re: How about a new theme

We were working on a Meddle theme a while ago. I don't know what happened to that. I made a nice logo but I don't think anyone ever came up with anything else and the project died. Or something.

I vote for albatross pic nummer 3 too Gerry. Nice piece of work...

Now all we need are the colours, right?

Re: How about a new theme

I just love that logo myself, Gerald!

My main problem with new themes is that I'm not much of a graphics designer. I'd like to find a way to integrate the logo to the background. Kinda like we did on The Wall theme, if you know what I mean. The site colors (fonts, tables, etc) are the easy part.

Re: How about a new theme

What size graphic can we use for the background pattern?

Re: How about a new theme

The size (in pixels) doesn't matter, as long as it's, at the most, 2 or 3 Kb. The background for the Wall theme, for instance, is only 1 Kb.

Re: How about a new theme

Hmmm... you need to find a way to place the logo with the background and then superimpose the boards on that?

So the point is alignment of the logo with respect to the boards/background?

Shouldn't be too hard...

Re: How about a new theme

The main thing is to either have a flat colored background, which is the easiest thing to integrate the logo with (kinda like we did with the DSOTM theme, where the background is black, and the logo's background is black as well), or, what I was originally thinking, is having a "infinite" background like the Wall background - that is, a graphic file that is small and that, if tiled, will look like it's one giant background, or, in other words, won't look like it's tiled, if you know what I mean.

Of course, this background that can be tiled and still look good, would need to be a background that could be integrated with the logo. In other words, the logo would ideally look like it's part of the background, if you know what I mean.

Combining these two things (a tiled background which integrates with the logo) seems a very hard thing for me, with my limited artistic abilities, to do. And that is the main reason why we haven't been developing new themes. So if anyone would like to help us out with that, like Inzagol, Gerald and quite a few other users did, even if their version wasn't the final one, we'd gladly appreciate that help.

Re: How about a new theme

This new meddle theme is completely amazing. I've always enjoyed the graphic design for meddle.

The choice of colors is fantastic, and GtM did a great job on the logo. The wall is too bright, dsotm is too dark, but this one is perfect.

Most of the color choices were made by Paulo. He is our god.
