40 licks tour

So did any of you see the stones on that 40 licks tour?
I almost got hit by kieth's limo outside of the show.
I dunno, just talk about your experiences.

Here is my posting from the "Favorite Concerts/Recent Shows.." thread. (Feb 1, 03 -- Pepsi Center, Denver, CO):

WOW! The STONES concert was awesome!

I was afraid it might be postponed because of that Space Shuttle accident. (These wussies around here stop anything if there is some tragedy somewhere)

I need not have feared. The Boys were in TOP form.

Jonny Lang opened with about 45 minutes of killer blues stuff. That kid is a phenom!

The the Stones took the stage and the house went NUTS!
They started with Street Fighting Man, then went to Start Me Up, You Got Me Rockin', and Don't Stop. (On which Mick actually strummed a Telecaster).

They did a mini-set from the Album "Let It Bleed", except for the title track, Midnight Rambler (awesome version) Monkey Man and You Can't Always Get What You Want. Gimme Shelter was absolutely the best version I've ever heard. Lisa Fischer was awesome with scorching backing vocals.....it was powerful!

Richards was at his best. I pretty much watched him most of the time. He was doin' all those classic moves of his like squatting down with the guitar held vertically, making those funky faces & doing typical Richards stuff......He was great.

Ronnie Wood was cookin'. He had a mini camera on the headstock of his guitar, showing his fingers playing on the big screen. A cool idea.

They also played Rocks Off and Dead Flowers, which I was not expecting to hear. Others songs I remember were Tumbling Dice, Happy, Can't You hear me knockin, Honky Tonk women, Satisfaction, Sympathy F T D, Mannish Boy, It's Only R & R, and of course, JJ Flash & Brown Sugar.

The only negative was when Jonny Lang joined the Stones to do "Rock Me Baby" he was unplugged.

But, All in all, I had a helluva great time.

Wish You Were There!

Dude! You're from Slovenia! I was originally born (as oposed to the other time I was born) in Yugoslavia (or what used to be...). It's good to hear someone from the motherland.

i saw the one on pay per view in a hotel and it didn't impress me much. and the camera on ron wood's guitar was kind of stupid. i like the rolling stones but as far as that goes, thumbs down.

when I saw the Stones on "The Simpsons", I was thinking - isn't it time for these reptiles to retire?
Jagger & Richard are as fresh & spontaneous on stage as Sigfried & Roy ( is Mick related to Barney Fife? ) and it's not like they need any more dough. Time to exit gracefully I sez.
