Some are, some are not. And btw, a real punk is a nihilist more than a rebel, mod were rebels, hippies too, but punkers just don't give a shit (so they say).
Hüsker Dü, Ramones, Gun Club and Cramps are my favourite. (CCCP too, an italian group)

Sex pistol were nihilstic, very much too. Ramones and Clash really aren't nihilistic... Clash were more rebels, and ramones is like the we see some fun in all the ****ed up shit around here...
clash also have that happy sound to their more ska like songs.
but, it's still real punk, not pop like Blink or Sum

i have always been quite rebellios, not because i wanted to, but because i grew up having a hard time accepting why it should like it was, i mean, getting teased, parents have stupid meanings and all that, so, i got the "you're a rebellions son", but i never listened to punk, i hardly knew what punk was, hehe.
Still, the ones claming to be punks today, are more like brats really.
spraypainting and crushing windows and such (that's the more nihilstic sort) and the other part is like, i listen to punk music, blink is the best there ever was, sum rules the earth, and they don't really know shit about music or musical talent.
i mean, i have played guitar for a very short time, and i don't get much practise because i've been having some serious sleeping disorders for a while now, still i can play blink as well as they do themselves... where's the fun in that?
