Dumb Punkers

First off I would like to say that I am an avid fan of punk rock and many of my close friends are punkers. But they all say they are non-conformists cuz they wear spiked hair or safety pins in their shirts. That is a punk style. It is not non-conformity if it is based on something. And non-conformity has nothing to do with clothing. Half these kids who say they are anarchists don't even know what anarchy is! They say they are rebelling, but they don't know what it is they are rebelling against. Just thought I would get some opinions on the subject.

i disagree with you there... half the kids... seriously 90% of the kids don't have a clue what anarchy is.

and, people claim they're punk fan, right... listen to Blink182 and Sum41.
The way i see it, that's not punk. I Mean, most of those pop-punkers haven't even heard one sex pistol song, and doesn't know what Ramones or Clash is...

Punk was just a state of mind. A fad. An idea.

Yes. Punk is just a trend today. Fashion, if you want.

I love loads of 'proper' punk stuff from the late '70's, all the so called 'punk' bands around today are either posers or prats (usually both) and they are all bloody awful.

I was musically educated on '70s punk (Ramones, Clash, and Sex Pistols). I still love it. But a lot of punk today (especially if it's popular punk) isn't punk at all. It's some kind of stupid pop/punk hybrid.

Indeed, I'm getting tired of people who say they're punk when they're not (and leave Avril out of this, as she never said she was all punk ). It's sad when someone who calls themselves punk hasn't heard of the Pistols!

Most of today's punk is not punk. Like Blink 182, New Found Glory, etc.

And as for dressing "punk", it's a look, your personal style is up to you, and if you're happy dressing however you do, then more power to you.

Your clothes don't make your political and social views. I doubt anyone could tell my stand on things from how I dress, anyway.
