What is your favorite Pink Floyd lyric?

I went through the search and didn't find a topic about this. If there is one, I'm sorry but I couldn't find it.

In your opinion, what is the best Pink Floyd lyric. The one line in a song that may describe how you feel or even live your life. The signature I have would have to be mine. No Navigator To Find My Way Home. That's how life sometimes feels. I need guidance and there is none.

Re: What is your favorite Pink Floyd lyric?

There's a lot of little bits that have aptly described my emotions.

When I'm particularly down the lyric:

"through the fish eyed lense of tear stained eyes,
I can barely describe, the shape of this moment in time
And far from flying high in clear blue skies,
I'm spiralling down to a hole in the ground where I'll hide"

seems to run through my head frequently (like right now).

My fav is a particularly brutal couple of Roger's lines from Sheep:

"Bleating and babbling, we fell on his neck with a scream
Wave upon wave of demented avengers
Marched cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream."

Brilliant - absolutely brilliant how Rog can pack so much into so few words.

Re: What is your favorite Pink Floyd lyric?

"Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you
And what I see is me

And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand the best I can."

It pops into my head whenever I walk by a random person.

Re: What is your favorite Pink Floyd lyric?

And somewhere out there in the stars
A keen-eyed look-out
Spied a flickering light
Our last hurrah
And when they found our shadows
Grouped 'round the TV sets
They ran down every lead
They repeated every test
They checked out all the data on their lists
And then the alien anthropologists
Admitted they were still perplexed
But on eliminating every other reason
For our sad demise
They logged they only explanation left
This species has amused itself to death
No tears to cry
No feelings left
This species has amused itself to death
Amused itself to death
I think this bunch of lines is very good
also on the lines of "here I go"(madcap laughs syd barrett)
fits in well with my life , people dissing beacause I like pink floyd and how I act(not to mention, dress!)

"Run rabbit run
dig that hole, forget the sun
and when at last the work is down
don't sit down, it's time to dig another one"

No matter how much we get through, there is always more to come.

The Final Cut has awesome lyrics. Almost anything on that record would be my favorite Floyd lyric.

"With, without
And who'll deny it's what the fighting's all about."
~Us and them

I think this is the best Floyd lyric according to all the chaos going on today.

or

"You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder
It's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you get older
And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south
Hide your head in the sand
Just another sad old man
All alone and dying of cancer"

Re: What is your favorite Pink Floyd lyric?

just about the whole thing of wish you were here, damn that is a powrful song. i also like
Shortened of breath, you're one day closer to death!

from time
and of cource don't look so frightened this is just a passing phase, one of my bad days!! from one of my turns,

that's why i love the band. They are so ****ing creative in their songs, and some of them really get to me. Geniuses, absolute geniuses.

-im not, i doubt geniuses is even spelled rite

Re: What is your favorite Pink Floyd lyric?

"When I was a child,
I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look, but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb."

Sigh... I don't think there's any song in existence that I can relate to better.
