Celestial Voices

I recently heard this song played on the Pompeii video, I'm obsessed with it, and I was wondering if it was on any other Floyd CD's/ Movies.

If you could tell me, I would be most grateful.

Re: Celestial Voices

One less obvious version of "Celestial Voices" is on the RoIO of The Man and the Journey (1969 Amsterdam), and is titled "The End of the Beginning". For the first part, it is played on an actual cathedral organ...it's a very beautiful song! This version is played without the rest of ASoS.

Re: Celestial Voices

If you like the Pompeii version of Celestial Voices, listen to the version of it at the end of ASoS on the Ummagumma Live album. It's completely mindblowing!

Re: Celestial Voices

Yeah, personally i've never liked the studio version of Celestial Voices at the end of Saucerful, but the live versions are superb. Both the Ummagumma and Pompeii versions are entirely different to the studio one, in that they have Gilmour's wonderful vocals instead of a really poor choir-type chanting.

Is it? It doesn't sound much like Gilmour to me. It just sounds like old people moaning.

HaHa

hahaha, i can actually see a group of about 14 old people standing around a boom mic, moaning in unison. good times.

yeah the Pompeii version is the best, not sure why, but it is, plus the ending high note of dave's vocals. that softens up the ending nicely.

well done, dave. well done.

Re: Celestial Voices

The original version of that song is ... mmm ... sterile. The Pompeii version is powerful and Dave's great.
