Post Calling APFFN!

People come on!

Here we are....Floydians. Joined together on this board. When I envision a PINK FLOYD fan, I see Philosophy, Depth, Imagination, Mystery, Magic, Etc Etc...

Just take a look around here lately. Shane G. posts one thread about food, which is cool. But we don't need to start a bunch of additional threads about food! And what is with these threads that are introduced by a five word sentence...which provokes no thought what-so-ever!

Sorry about the complaining! I'm just disappointed with the quality of discussion going on here lately!

Cultivate, explore, dig deep. We are fans of the great music of PINK FLOYD, people. We must be able to come up with something more creative and intelligent to talk about.

Sigh...(Glad I got this out.) So go forth! When I get back from the hospital, I'd love to see this thread full of intriguing discussion. I have faith in my fellow Floydians!

<----------Like that thought under my name there. It could be a start for us. Sincerely, PW

Re: Calling APFFN!

I'm not sure about other threads about food, but there is definitely a lot of nonsense on the boards lately. Not that I have any real problem with nonsense per se, but it's the quality of the nonsense that is being proliferated lately that disturbs me. As someone (possibly GtM?) said recently, some people are obsessed with attracting attention to themselves, which I find boring as hell. And to see people who have only been actively posting here for a couple of months with post counts over 2000...I begin to wonder if I want to even bother with this forum any more. I wonder that until someone posts some good old-fashioned QUALITY nonsense, and then I reconsider.

Oh well, that's enough nonsense from me!

Re: Calling APFFN!

true all very true. Sometimes I think that we've exhausted all possibilites of clever discussion, I certainly don't like seeing people with several thosuand posts after a couple of months, it's good inidcation that nothing clever is being posted.

Let's see Chriss said something about the milky way, well I'll say something about the universe to perhaps spark discussion.

What do people think of the big bang thoery, in other words do you belive in it and if not what other way do you think the universe came about

cheers

Re: Calling APFFN!

Good topic for discussion...

I, myself have never believed in the big bang theory. I think that everything was created by a higher power.

Call it what you like, I just believe that God is out there.

If nothing else, it gives me something to believe in to get through the hard times.

Good luck keeping this discussion serious, I hope it does. I am really interested to hear everyone's views on the subject.

Should've added...I can't provide another scientific explanation, because I don't have one. I've given it much thought in the past, and that is just what I've come up with. Anyway.....

Re: Calling APFFN!

Why would your belief in a god preclude a big bang event? And I fear this discussion may push the envelope of what is permitted here if we do not tread carefully....

Re: Calling APFFN!

yes, I meant a different scientific explanation, not necessarily a religious one. Although if you do believe it was god then sure say so, just those who don't agree state what you think is the truth instead of trying to disprove the previous person.

cheers

Re: Calling APFFN!

Well, not being a physicist, I can't really offer any other scientific explanation. I think the big bang theory is pretty widely accepted among scientists, though, if it is being expanded upon as new knowledge is gained. I could be wrong. <shrug>

Re: Calling APFFN!

The big bang v. creator thing was sort of discussed in the 'Why Your Soul is Dead' thread (somewhere near the end, I think). Anywho, here's the link: http://www.pinkfloydfan.net/showthre...&threadid=1754

I must say, Chrissy, given the lengths that I've been known to go to when challenged about this sort of thing, are you sure you want to get me started?
